East Alabama Health Welcomes Thao Tran, M.D.

Thao Nguyen Tran, M.D. recently joined the team at East Alabama Rheumatology Center. After earning her medical degree at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, she completed her internal medicine residency and rheumatology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

Loving long-term patient care and wanting to affect change, Dr. Tran chose to pursue her medical career in rheumatology, as it allows her to walk alongside patients in their journey toward wellness. She decided to join East Alabama Health because she shared its common goal of prioritizing quality patient care above all. Her medical interests include gout, osteoporosis, and inflammatory arthritis.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Tran has traveled abroad and taught English in Japan, where she also climbed Mt. Fuji. In her spare time, Dr. Tran enjoys yoga, Legos, reading about health and wellness, and experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes.
