About Me

Dr. Rick Horak was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Kenyon College with a degree in biology. He attended Wright State University School of Medicine and graduated in 1994. Afterwards, Dr. Horak completed an internal medicine residency at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

Life soon took him to New Bern, N.C. where he spent the next several years in private practice with Coastal Carolina Health Care. During this time, Dr. Horak joined the United States Air Force Reserve as a Flight Surgeon and was stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, North Carolina. For over a decade, Dr. Horak honorably served his country and spent several deployments overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom. Currently, Dr. Horak is in the Inactive Ready Reserves and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

In 2004, Dr. Horak met his wife Amy while living in New Bern and moved to Auburn after their marriage in 2005. The family is blessed with three children, Christian, Anna Kate and John Miles. In 2011, Dr. Horak took a sabbatical and completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship in Birmingham, under the direction of world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. James Andrews. Dr. Horak practices primary care medicine as well as sports medicine for all ages.
