About Me
Rochelle Thompson Kolawole, M.D. is a critical care intensivist practicing at East Alabama Medical Center. Originally from Liberia in West Africa, Dr. Thompson Kolawole received her medical degree from the University of Ghana School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency and critical care and infectious disease fellowships at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Early in her medical career, Dr. Thompson Kolawole was drawn to caring for very sick patients with complex diagnoses. The Ebola epidemic sparked the idea that she could care for critically ill patients while also being a specialist in complex infections, which led to her decision to pursue both critical care and infectious disease subspecialties.
Dr. Thompson Kolawole and her husband have two sons. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, singing, and creating art. She can understand and speak five languages and hopes to learn more, including sign language.
