Primary Medicine Associates - Roanoke
Primary Medicine Associates (PMA) is a full-service primary care clinic in Roanoke, Alabama. At PMA-Roanoke, we welcome walk-in patients for all primary or urgent care needs, and offer a wide range of services for our patients.
Our clinic is staffed with a nurse practitioner, Amy Merrill, as well as a team of registered nurses. A nurse practitioner (NP) is a highly trained and licensed healthcare professional who can diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions, prescribe medications, and provide preventative care to patients. Our NP works in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers to provide comprehensive patient care, and can help connect patients with specialists if needed.
PMA-Roanoke is currently accepting new patients and walk-in visitors. However, patients may also request an appointment. Appointments are not required, but they allow us to accommodate you properly and provide care in a quicky and timely fashion.

Daniel Barlow, M.D.
Daniel Barlow, M.D. is a member of the team at Primary Medicine Associates. Dr. Barlow earned his medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and completed one year of general surgery training at Dartmouth-Hitchcock prior to entering and completing a family medicine residency at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, California.Dr. Barlow is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah. He and his wife have four children. In his spare time, Dr. Barlow enjoys spending time outdoors with his family exploring, reading, wood working, and following sports.

Amy Merrill, CRNP
Amy Merrill earned her associate nursing degree at Southern Union, her bachelor’s of nursing at Auburn University at Montgomery, and her Master of Nursing at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. A nurse for more than 26 years, serving many different patient populations, Merrill has most recently practiced family medicine for the past two years. She looks forward to being able to serve and provide care to those in her community.Merrill has three daughters. When she is not working, she enjoys supporting her daughters in softball and volleyball, gardening, college football, and cheering on the Handley Tigers. Merrill is also a member of Faith Baptist Church in Roanoke.

David Holmes, M.D. earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Arkansas College of Medicine and also completed a fellowship at St. Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Holmes is a cardiologist with Pinnacle Cardiovascular Associates who also practices at Primary Medicine Associates - Roanoke.

Patrick Martin, M.D.
Patrick Martin, M.D. earned his medical degree from UAB and completed his orthopaedic surgical residency at The University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Martin also completed a trauma fellowship at St. John’s Hospital and received further training during a joint reconstruction fellowship at The Arizona Institute for Bone and Joint Disorders. Dr. Martin is board certified in orthopaedic surgery, and practices orthopaedics at East Alabama Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine - Valley and Primary Medicine Associates - Roanoke.
