Urogynecologists provide medical and surgical treatment options for women facing pelvic floor disorders.

Conditions We Treat

The "pelvic floor" refers to the muscles that keep the pelvic organs in place such as the bladder, small bowel, uterus, vagina and rectum. Our teams offers compassionate treatment for a range of  pelvic floor disorders, including incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and bladder issues, helping women regain comfort and confidence.

We've provided helpful information below on urogynecologic conditions to answer any questions you may have.

Pelvic organ prolapse is when pelvic organs such as the uterus, vagina, small bowel, rectum or bladder, begin to droop into or outside of the vaginal canal or anus. Prolapses occurs from an abnormal increase in pressure on the abdomen, however the most common causes are related to childbirth.

Symptoms: Prolapse symptoms are often related to the affected pelvic organ. Spotting or bleeding, difficulty urinating, involuntary urination, lower back pain, constipation, and the feeling that something is slipping from the vagina are common symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse.

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common condition caused by bacteria that has entered the urinary tract. A UTI is considered recurring when a patient experiences three or more UTIs with in a twelve-month period.

Symptoms: burning sensation while urinating, frequent urination, bloody urine, etc.

Incontinence in urogynecology refers to the involuntary leakage of urine or feces due to weakened pelvic floor muscles, often affecting women after childbirth, aging, or surgery.

Overactive bladder is a condition characterized by a sudden, frequent urge to urinate, often with involuntary leakage, due to overactive bladder muscles.

Nighttime urination, or nocturia, refers to the need to wake up multiple times during the night to urinate, often caused by bladder dysfunction, fluid retention, or other underlying health conditions.

Vaginal prolapse occurs when the pelvic organs, such as the bladder, uterus, or rectum, descend into or outside of the vaginal canal due to weakened pelvic floor muscles, often after childbirth or menopause.
