When getting back home quickly and achieving the best recovery possible are your goals, where you receive your rehabilitation therapy matters.

Inpatient rehabilitation helps people who have experienced the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment, or illness. The goal is to help each individual function as independently as possible through specialized treatment programs for conditions including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopaedic injury, neurological conditions, amputation, and trauma.

The Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at EAMC-Lanier has been ranked in the top 10 percent of rehabilitation hospitals nationally by Uniform Data Systems (UDS). Our top-performer designation is based on our ranking in the top deciles of UDS for the Medical rehabilitation program evaluation model for more than 800 facilities, a report card for rehabilitation settings. The Inpatient Rehab Difference

We know that making the decision about where you receive your next level of care can be confusing – especially with so many different options to consider. When you choose inpatient rehabilitation, you will be cared for by a team that understands your individual situation and shares the same goals you do – getting you home as healthy, safely, and as quickly as possible.

Our Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit opened in October 2016 and was the first of its kind in the area. The unit provides specialized rehabilitation for patients in the hospital who are not yet able to transition to a skilled nursing facility, nursing home, or to return to their homes.

The 17-bed unit includes private rooms overlooking the Chattahoochee River, a dining area, and a rehab gym where patients participate in a minimum of three hours of specialized rehab each day they are in the unit.

Highlights of the inpatient rehab unit:

  • Treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons
  • Located within EAMC-Lanier where there is 24/7 rehab nursing care available, and there is always medical personnel and emergent care close by
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapy
  • A rehab gym with amenities to help patients return to the functionality they maintained prior to their hospitalization. These amenities include a fully functional kitchen, restroom with a bath tub, bedroom and washer/dryer unit.
  • A car for patients to practice entering and exiting a vehicle during therapy to ensure safe a safe and fall-free discharge.
