Here are the most common guidelines for your DOT physical examination:
- List of medication and prescribing provider.
- DM- HBA1C within the last 3 months.
- HTN- Must be below 140/90 for a one year card. If you have missed your medication, start taking it again and then come in for your physical.
- Must be able to see 20/40 in each eye individually for distance.
- Any heart attack or heart surgery needs a letter from your cardiologist or most recent visit summary.
- If you have had a heart surgery, you are required to have had an echo after surgery. Ejection Fraction needs to be over 40% to drive.
- If you have had heart surgery, you must have a stress test every 2 years.
- OSA - sleep apnea; You need to have a compliance report from the last 3 months. It must be 70% compliant, and you need to be wearing it on average at least 4 hours per night. You can use your app, call the company and get a report, or bring your machine in with you.
