American Heart Association Training Center

East Alabama Health serves as an American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center for our employees. 

  • Our instructors include nurses and paramedics who are employed by East Alabama Health. 
  • We offer all AHA courses as a benefit to our employees, free of charge. 
  • Non-employees are also welcome, as space allows, and we offer competitive rates for our classes.

Heartsaver CPR/AED and First Aid 

These classroom based courses are designed to prepare people to provide first aid, CPR, and use an AED in a safe, timely, and effective manner. After successful skills check offs, a Heartsaver First Aid and Heartsaver CPR/AED course completion card will be issued.

Basic Life Support (BLS) 

In this instructor led, classroom based course, healthcare professionals learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe and effective manner. After successful completion of a written test and skills testing, an AHA BLS Provider course completion card is issued.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

In this instructor-led, classroom based course, providers enhance their skills in treating adult victims of cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies. After successful completion of a written test and skills testing, an AHA ACLS Providers course completion card is issued. Alabama Board of Nursing Contact Hours offered.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

This instructor led, classroom based course uses a scenario based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency management of patients approaching or already in respiratory or cardiac arrest. After successful completion of a written test and skills testing, an AHA PALS Providers course completion card is issued. Alabama Board of Nursing Contact Hours offered.
